Large Oval Vintage Tag - Cheery Lynn Designs

Tag measures 7 X 9 inches

Christmas is over for another year, and I do hope you all had a wonderful time with loved ones.  Now, New Years is just around the corner....

Today, I want to show you a vintage, oval tag I created for Cheery Lynn Designs. This oval shaped tag could easily be transformed into a photo/memory booklet, or made to hang on a wall, showing off precious photographs.

The base for the tag was cut from the XL-8 Oval Scalloped Stacker Series, and my actual photograph was cut from the L-7 Classic Oval Silver Series, and then framed in the most intricately beautiful, DL136 Japanese Garden Lace Oval Frame.  The largest backing piece was embossed using the PS107 Stitcher Plate, then lightly sanded for that distressed look, using Core-dinations cardstock.
To decorate, I used the inside greenery from the Japanese Garden Lace Oval Frame, and teamed it with the B147 OliveBranches.  The Olive Branches were cut into various sizes and weaved in and amongst the roses, and upwards to frame the photograph.

I formed three B155 Large Roses, curling the petals up tightly and adhering for the centre and then built the petals little by little around the centre of the rose.  Some of the petals were curled inwards, and others outwards.  There are certainly ‘many’ ways to create roses, from these beautiful dies, and of course are available in three various sizes.

To complete the tag, I used Creative Inspirations paint to highlight different areas, especially the roses, as well as Tim Holtz distress inks on edges.  Prima porcelain roses and pearls were adhered, and some of my vintage guipure lace and silk ribbon which I hand-dyed in variegated colours to match, were used to complete my project.
Mike has completed a great video, do check it out on the Cheery Lynn Designs Website“Detailed Dies Cutting Workshop”, well worth viewing, especially when dealing with the beautiful and intricate detail of the dies available through Cheery Lynn Designs... And do not forget this weeks challenge also, which can be found by clicking “here” – the theme this week is ‘Celebrate’.  Just remember, you can create anything you wish, but you have to use at least one Cheery Lynn Designs die in your creation, though more is welcomed for your chance to win a $20 voucher, and Mo's Digital Pencil also has some great prizes for several winners!

I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Years, may 2012 bring much joy, lots of laughter, and good health to all... till next year ...

Flower Gift Box & Gift Tag

This week’s creation is a gift box and tag, decorated using an array of Cheery Lynn Designs flowers, foliage and borders. The box itself measures 7 inch square, so a great size for an arrangement of flowers...and perfect to host a pile of chocolates inside.
For the centre flower, I used ‘all’ of the stacker flowers (each stacker flower was cut twice – all up 10 layers) and built lots of dimension through fluffing the petals up.  The centre was created using the Large and Medium Rose.  All in all, to build the larger flowers in this arrangement, I did not stick to one die; each flower has mixed dies to make one flower.

I totally adore the little tiny daisy like flowers made from the Darling Daisies die. These die cut flowers can be built up into many different sized flowers, just by combining the different sizes.
I used “Dazzling Diamonds” glimmer mist over my whole project, which left the most glorious shimmer to the whole project – including the gift tag.  This can be seen more so if you enlarge the flowers.  Dazzling Diamonds is such a pretty glimmer mist to use on 'any' project, as it does not over-power in colour - just adds a shimmer affect.
The new release French Flair DoilyStacker was used as a base of the arranagement, along with the Large SunflowerDoily.
The borders used around outside of the box are the Anastasia and Border Carnival dies. Ribbon was used to finish, and a bow added.
The challenge theme for this week is “Tis the Season”, you can view all the challenge details by clicking “Here”... and may even win the $20 voucher. Also, this week there is a guest sponsor as well, Di's Digi Downloads, offering a $10 voucher!  I am looking forwards to seeing the entries...

There is a little time before Christmas left....so I am off to create!

Cheery Lynn Designs - Christmas Card

These last few weeks I have been busy creating Christmas cards... I seriously do not think I will get them all completed, but it is certainly fun trying!
For Cheery Lynn Designs this week, I have created a Christmas card using the French Flair Classic & Silver Stackers (largest in series), and used the Piercing Plate to emboss the cardstock.  I have had-stitched around the outer edge of the image, and also in each corner.... though, I have to admit, I cheated and drew the rest of the stitching lines in place around outer edges!
The Victorian Romance Flourish is a stunning die-cut, and I used this as a main focal point and then furthered my layers with Pine Branches, and the Miniature Rose.
The base of the card was built up using the Lace Light Deco Border, along with the Ribbon Eyelet Border w/piercing.
The sentiment on the card front is from an older Kaiser Paper range I had in my stash, and the Christmas Greetings, is from the gorgeous Graphic 45, Christmas Emporium range.

Imaginarium Designs, Design Team Application

For those on limited or slow internet connection, please be aware that this post is photo intensive...

The “Vintage” album was created using a Collections chipboard album.  Throughout the album are various chipboard elements: the Maya Road bust applied with tissue paper (patterned), inked and distressed....and the flower on the front cover was soaked in water, then the chipboard layers opened and curled, before being baked in the oven. The Kaisercraft ‘fence’ was left plain, and Scrapware lamp-post painted and heat embossed.
The above and below photographs show one pagefrom a chipboard Tea Tag album (made by Delish), I am currently creating.  I used an old vintage photograph of a young girl, and a Twiddleybitz chipboard butterfly behind to give the girl wings.  The wings were coloured using perfect pearls, and then sealed with a sealer. The chipboard frame was given to me in a swap parcel, so I sadly do not know the brand.  The frame was placed through my Bigshot using an embossing folder – painted with Lumiere paints, and the embossed area highlighted with Stickles.

The photographs above and below are the front cover and several pages from my Memory Book.  The memory book was created using a Prima chipboard album – other chipboard elements were used through the whole album.  The title was painted with Jo Sonja paints and then Lumiere sponged lightly to give that glimmer.  The decorative chipboard swirl is made by Collections, which was painted, then aged with crackle medium, and inked.  The decorative border piece was left plain (no brand).
The “A Family Story” photographs above and below, consists of a Dusty Attic ornate frame, and Imaginarium Designs, “Family” – both painted with Creative Inspiration 'antique gold', shimmer paint. The letter “A” was a left over chipboard letter from a creation some time ago.
Above is my Christmas Book, the cover itself is chipboard, the pages inside cardstock.  The “Christmas” (Scrap FX) wording on the cover was painted in Kaisercraft paint, and then gold leaf was applied for a very different and unusual effect.
The tags above and below have two different applications used on the chipboard pieces. The frame and cameo, by Words or Whatever, were sealed with Gesso, then numerous layers of paint applied before the Tim Holtz crackle medium applied, to give an aged/old appearance.  A light wash of distress ink was applied to seep into the cracks, before being sealed with a spray sealer.
The Christmas tag, was placed through an embossing folder (Swiss Dot), painted with Lumiere paint, highlighted with distress ink, and then heat embossed to give a clear shiny finish.

The Garden Gate was cut from chipboard, painted, inked and washed with a hint of gold – though the wording on this layout was distressed and a light application crackle medium applied for a very fine cracked effect.
The Fairy Shadow Box was created using a Scrapware chipboard, Mini Shadow box...
In the above layout, the chipboard, birdbath was lightly sprayed with Suede Glimmer Mist.  The lettering was inked with various distress inks, and sealed with a spray sealer.
The frame is enhanced with Imaginarium “9 cogs on a board” chipboard pieces, and ScrapFX wordlets, all painted with Creative Inspirations paint.

Thanks for taking the time to view my blog post....I look forwards to seeing the newly appointed design team, and wish everyone entering, the best of luck... I cannot wait to see all the new Design Team creations!

Decorated Frame using Chipboard Elements

Another project that has been in the ‘making’ for some time completed – phew!  I picked this frame up at a cheap-shop some time ago for $2.  It really appealed to me as the wood is rough and when painted shows off the delicate detail of the actual wood-grain.
However, to photograph the frame I had to take the glass out, as no matter which way I tried, there was always a reflection of some type.

The products I used for the frame are:
Imaginarium Designs “9 cogs on a board” chipboard elements
ScrapFX Wordlets, “100% Boy” which I chopped up and only used the 100% and Rough & Tough parts of the chipboard.
Creative Inspiration paint - “Antique Silver”
Glimmer Mist – “Riptide”
Tim Holtz distress ink – Stormy Sky & also ‘Corners’ in silver
Antique metal buttons from my own personal collection
The frame was originally raw wood, so I knew this would soak in any paint – gesso was used as a base coat. Next, I applied “Stormy Sky” distress ink over the whole frame.  The ink seeped beautifully into the wood-grain!!  I allowed this to dry overnight before tinkering any further.  The following day, I used the Imaginarium Designs chipboard cogs as masks, placing them over the frame and then lightly spraying with the Riptide glimmer mist.  This left a lovely pale image of painted cogs, which I adore!!
The chipboard elements were all glimmer misted with Riptide, and when totally dried, painted with Creative Inspiration’s, Antique Silver paint.  The reason I applied the glimmer mist to the chipboard elements in blue first, is that blue actually highlights/compliments silver perfectly.
I’ve taken several different photographs with different light-sources, so that the the intricate detail of the chipboard and paint shimmers can be seen.   I just love the way the light plays off the painted chipboard, so pretty, and those cogs almost look like real metal!!!
The photograph is of my son, Jesse, taken in July this year at the age of 16 months.
Now to finish a few more projects, which have been in the making for some time....
