Creative Inspirations Design Team

I was so thrilled to have been asked to join the design team for Creative Inspirations Paint, and of course I accepted with a HUGE smile on my face.  So, for the next 6 months I will be painting up a storm with the most glorious of 'paints'...and other Creative Inspirations Paint products - glitter, and embossing powders.

As most would know I have been dabbling with the paints for several months now, and seriously adore the products.

If you want to know more about the scope of Creative Inspiration Paints, there is a wealth of information in the 'Tutorial' area of the blog which can be found 'HERE'.  Worth investigating!

And call on over to see what the other design team members have created and how they have used the products.  Also, each week there is a challenge theme, with a new challenge starting tomorrow (well for Australian's, it is today) and the opportunity to win some paint!

I am so looking forwards to seeing what I can do with these products!!

Victorian 'Love' Card - Imaginarium Designs

For March I have created a card for Imaginarium Designs (one of 3 projects).

I used the "Flourish 1 and Variations' (IDT0003) to create interest in the flower arrangement of the 'Love' card - some of the flourishes were cut into smaller portions to fit the arrangement.  Each portion, including the 'Love, Adore, and Cherish Small' (IDW0036), and 'Bird Cage' (IDT00019) were painted using Creative Inspiration Paint.  Firstly, I painted with 'Tu Tu Pink', and then a light brush of 'Gold' to tone the pink down to fit the theme more. Using a dauber to apply the 'Gold' gave a variegated appearance upon each of the chipboard pieces, which can be seen in the close-up photographs.

To purchase Imaginarium Designs chipboard, please visit 'Seriously Scrapbooking',  you can find the chipboard "HERE".

For some wonderful inspiration, and to keep up with what is happening, please visit the Imaginarium Designs Ning Site, and visit the Imaginarium Designs Blog to see what gorgeous projects the design team have created.

Floral Ornament & Goodbye Cheery Lynn Designs

My blog post today is my last one for Cheery Lynn Designs.  I will miss creating for such a lovely company, though will enjoy my visits back to the blog. Cheery Lynn Designs is a fantastic company to design for, and for me personally, it has been a wonderful learning experience, and one I will always be truly grateful for. I want to thank Mike and Bj Dwyan (owners of Cheery Lynn Designs) for their hospitality in having me as part of their 2011/2012 design team!!

...and a BIG thank you to Sandy, our DT coordinator who has been an amazing source of information, inspiration and help to the whole team...You really do an amazing job!

To the other design members, it has been so much fun working with you, and I am really looking forwards to what the new Design Team members will bring to the team - welcome aboard!

Cheery Lynn Designs has some exciting news coming up soon, so please stay tuned on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog for further information, which will be posted around the 1st of April!
It is 'must not miss' news!

Anyhow......I have created something a little different - two lace and rose ornaments.  I placed ribbon on the back of mine, but these could also be used to decorate tags or layouts.

To create the base of the ornament, I used the Frills and Hearts Border for the first ornament, and the Anastasia Border for the second.  The photo below shows how I constructed the base. I used the Eazi Score board by Diamond Card Craft, scoring evenly along the length of the die cut, and then fan folded each border.  You can find the Eazi-Score Board/s "HERE".

Thank you to Phillis Gullick, who provided the score board, embossing tool and book to all the design team members.  I am enjoying my creating with your products!

I cut several Scalloped Window Stacker circles (smallest, and next size up).  The larger circle out of the two was used to adhere the borders upon.  The smallest circle was used on top of the lace base, to adhere the flower upon so I had an even surface to work upon.

The photograph below is a close up of the Frills and Heart Border ornament.  The flower was created using the Cuties 2.  For this flower I curled each of the petal tips outwards using a quilling tool, and lightly inked the edges with Aged Mahogany distress ink.

The foliage consists of Olive Branches, and the Cuties 4.  The Cuties 4 makes the perfect sized leaves for this sized flower.  All you do is remove the petals from the die cut!

Both projects were constructed using strong adhesive glue dots. Larger glue dots were used to adhere flower, and the Scalloped Window Stacker circles.  Tiny glue dots were used for the foliage.

The rose in the below photograph was created using the Miniature Rose and Medium Rose. As I was constructing the rose (especially the outer layers) I used a quilling tool to curl the petals under or upwards 'slightly' to give the petals a more realistic appearance.

The leaves (above photograph) I used the Small Dimensional Leaves 2. Again, I rolled the edges of the leaves upwards and outwards, to create realism.

This week on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog, the challenge theme is 'Things with Wings' - please come and join in the fun of the challenge, you can create anything at all - layout, card, off the page project, etc. as long as there is at least one Cheery Lynn Designs die used in your creation (of course, more is better).  You have the chance of winning a $20 voucher to spend in store with Cheery Lynn Designs.

Marianne Designs Craftables - Flower Tutorial

Photo 1
I created this flower tutorial for Cardmaking Online, using a range of the products sent out in our design team packs.  Cardmaking Online is a leading Australian and International retailer of card making and paper craft supplies, with parchment craft being one of the specialities.  The Cardmaking Online Blog is new online and consists of designers from all aspects of card-making - including many I have never seen or heard of before.  Well worth popping over for a visit and 'seeing' for yourself what the design team have and will be creating.

The Kars Adhesive Jewells are some of the best quality 'bling' I have ever used - am very impressed and the shine off each is amazing!

***Please read through all instructions before commencing***
Photo 2
Products Required:
Shimmer Paper
Scissors
Kitchen Skewer
Martha Stewart - Frond Punch
Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
Cardstock
Sentiment Stamp

Photo 3
1. Using the Marianne Design Craftables - CR1202, die-cut 3 of the largest flowers, and 2 small flowers from shimmer paper.  Cut 1 middle sized flower using A4 Glitter Card 'Old Pink'. Slightly cut with scissors into each petal of the large and medium flowers - *Please see photograph 3 and the top right hand side flower.

Photo 4

2. Using the kitchen skewer, roll the edges of the large flower petals upwards, and for the middle sized flower, the petals are rolled along the petal length. ***See Photograph 4***

3. The smallest flowers are shaped using the mouse mat, and embossing tool.  Place your flower onto the mouse mat, and gently roll the embossing tool around each petal shaping them.  Work your way into the centre so that the petal curls upwards. ***See Photograph 5 and 8***
Photo 5
4. When all petals have been shaped, begin by assembling your flower using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Glue between each layer of petals you add.  The base of your flower should have 3 large flowers adhered one to the other. ***Please Note*** Stagger the petals apart, do not adhere petals one on top of the other. *** See photograph 6***

Photo 6
5. Adhere your middle shaped flower into the flower base.  ***See photograph 7***
Photo 7
6. Adhere both small petals together as in photograph 8.  Please remember to stagger your flower petals from the petals beneath.  This allows for a more realistic appearance.  Adhere your now adhered middle flowers to the already assembled flower base, add a bling piece from the Kars Adhesive Jewells 'Transparent Pink' to complete your flower.  See photograph 1 for finished flower.
Photo 8
7. Using the Big Shot, die cut the Cheery Lynn Designs - Italian Flourish using the A4 Glitter Card 'Old Pink'. Adhere to card base using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Glue.  Assemble your flower, leaves/fronds, to your liking and add sentiment to complete.

Vintage Inspired Tags - Cheery Lynn Designs

For Cheery Lynn Designs this week I have created two victorian inspired tags.  The tag bases were created using the new release 'Reflections Boutique', Scalloped Coved Rectangle Series.  The above tag consists of the two smaller sizes, which I adapted to the size I required for my tag.  The smallest size is perfect for using as a photo-mount.

I used the new release Lace Corner Deco F to decorate each corner.  The range of corner dies consists of 6 different ranges, each range has a series of 3 dies within.  I used Creative Inspirations Paint (beige) to colour the corner pieces.

The Flower was created using the smallest die in Judy's Blooms.  The edges of the leaf have been curled up using a quilling tool, and adhered in layers.  I added some stamens to the centre.  The smallest Dimensional Leaves 2 Small leaf, and Olive Branches were used as foliage.  These elements were also painted using Creative Inspirations Paint (Olive Green).

Another tag created the same as 'above', though using a different corner die in the
Lace Corner Deco F.  The below flower was creating using the Darling Daisies die, and the leaves
are Cuties4 (petals removed from die cut to form leaves).

Victorian Memory Canvas - New Release 'Forget Me Not' Collection - Megs Garden

My creations for Meg's Garden this month are based around the Victorian era. The Victorian era (1847 - 1901 with the reign of Queen Victoria) was a time in history when many new beginnings unfolded, and individuals described the era a time of 'enligtenment'.  It was an ear of change, and those who were (lucky enough) to be in the middle class and upwards lived, surrounded in opulence.  Women created beautiful ornate embroideries, tapestries and wore beautiful gowns, their waists tiny, from the tight capture of a corset.

My project is built on a canvas, which measures a little over 6 inches square.  I really wanted the canvas to have texture, so I used texture paste, and while still wet, stamped a brick image (Prima) onto the canvas. When completely dry, a wash of 'Walnut Stain' distress ink, and a swipe 'here and there' of crackle medium.

Meg's Garden has a delightful range of beautiful flowers which are definately worth investigating.  Also, some gorgeous boxboard frames (can be found under heading 'laser cut frames') which are very ornate and leave a lot of scope in the creating side.  I painted my frame with Creative Inpirations 'gold' paint, and used a crackle medium over the top.  When dry, I applied a light wash of 'Walnut Stain' distress ink to seep into those tiny cracks aging the piece perfectly.

Then... I surrounded one side of the frame in various flowers (these can be found under embellishments 'HERE').  Beneath the frame and flowers, I used the Lace Organza Flower - these pieces are stunning!

The "Cherish and Adore' Title are from Imaginarium Designs

Also this month, Megs Garden has released a new paper collection designed by Denise Ann, called "Forget-Me-Not" pictured below.  It is so beautiful!!!  These papers are available 'now' and can be found under the heading 'What's New and Exciting'.  The paper range consists of  8 variations of 12" X 12", that are also each teamed with a 4" X 12" matching piece.   There are 2 A4 element paper sheets, and a mini cardmakers pack.
Soon, we will have the new Design Team members of Meg's Garden joining in with the challenges.  Please call on over to the Meg's Garden Blog for further inspiration from the Design Team, and for updated news and wonderful, inspiring creations....

The Lace Easter egg die I have used in my card is called 'Lace Egg Six' (pictured above). The cute little rabbit comes from the 'Spring Basket 2'.  The Spring Basket 2 comes with a gorgeous basket as well, which could be used for many wonderful projects (pictured below in die form). This particular die measures 3" X 4.5" and there is also a smaller version available 'HERE'.  The Lace Egg Six was backed using the Nesting Eggs, after being coloured slightly with distress inks.

On my Easter card, I used the Bunny and Chick Border (pictured below).  To decorate a little more, I used the tiny cut-outs of the rabbit and chickens, colouring them with distress inks and adhering them with dimensional foam, adhesive squares (tiny ones) back onto the border.

Hope everyone enjoys doing the "Easter Hop" with Cheery Lynn Designs.

Once Upon A Time - Cheery Lynn Designs

12 X 12
This week for Cheery Lynn Designs I decided on a story book theme layout.  My daughter Tayla, was very young in this photograph and she used to pretend all the time she was a princess, or a teapot (long story the teapot, but I must scrap it soon).  The little hound to the side of Tayla, is a Maltese Terrier 'Crystal', she was my shadow years ago - I still miss her terribly.

The layout consists of 'We are Memory Keepers' dimensional sticker series called 'Once Upon a Time', and Bazill cardstock.

The Francesca Border was used to highlight beneath the photograph, and also frame the whole layout.  Very lacy and pretty!

I used the Sophia's Heart to decorate behind the photograph.  The Sophia's Heart is a stunning die, with very intricate detail and measures 5 1/4" X 5".  There are several very pretty elements within the die cut that could be cut out and used in a variety of ways. I did not want to cover the centre of the Sophia's Heart die cut piece, so I cut the centre piece out as it would not be seen anyhow.  This cut out element was used on the tab for the hidden journaling (on the right of photograph).

The small cat and tree that sit upon the castle are from the Scare Me die set.  I have been wanting to incorporate the die set for some time - both die cuts are very fine and detailed.  I used the Victorian Picket Fence in my 'scene'.

In the above photograph, I used a piece cut from the centre of the Sophia's Heart die centre (which would not be seen under the photograph) to decorate the princess element.  The sweet little leaves curl around so beautifully, it was almost like it was made for this piece!

The Enchanted Forest Stacker Frame (largest size) was used to frame around the photograph - this is a very fine die cut with beautiful detail.  Click on the photograph to see a larger image.

This week the challenge at the Cheery Lynn Designs blog is "Add A Flourish", to find out all the details, click "HERE", for your chance to win a $20 Cheery Lynn Designs voucher.  Also do not forget there is only a few days left of the Design Team Call taking place, details can be found "HERE".
