Treasure - Layout - The Scrapbook Store

My last layout for The Scrapbook Store this month is a photo of a past relative - as far as I have worked out to date, she is from my Maternal side of the family.  Her name was Mary Genders (Westbrook) and was born in 1860 in Hobart, Tasmania, and died 3rd of June, 1950.  She looks rather sour, but I guess that is the era the photograph was taken. I'm looking forwards to learning more about this lady and writing her 'story'.

The Carta Bella 'So Noted' - Script and Scribbles paper was perfect for the background, and I aged further by applying Liquitex Glass Beads, mixed with gold paint, mists, crackle stamp, and inks  -
The Glass Bead medium is an amazing medium and leaves the most glorious texture of tiny glass beads.
Burlap Hessian was added beneath the photograph and papers.... and a range of Green Tara flowers, lace, and roses were used to decorate.

There is still time to take part in this months challenge sketch, details can be found 'HERE', and loaded into The Scrapbook Store 'Gallery' - come join in the fun of the challenge, with a chance to win a fabulous prize of a $40 store voucher, with free postage.
Hope to see some familiar faces in the challenge...
Sandie

The poor lady probably had a hard life.....I feel so blessed being born in an age of all the conveniences so many of us take for granted.
You did a masterful job showcasing her and, yes, I adore the aged gold!
I have a jar of the glass beads and did not know what to do with it....thank you!

This looks amazing, I love the square doily and I guess life was a lot harder in those days.. I have some wonderful old photos too and they are not smiling, but rather stern, so I guess it was the era.. Love all the layers love those teeny beads you have used too.. a beautiful precious layout...

Gorgeous work Sandie. I really love the glass bead and gold paint effect. :)

P/s: I think in the olden days people don't smile when they take a photo.

I love how you scrap your ancestors, even track them down to do so. It inspires me to find some of my relatives and do the same. :)
Your LO is wonderful Sandie. Even though she has a sour expression your design brings out the best in her. The colors are beautiful and I love the square doily turned on its side.

What a fabulous page my friend. That photo makes me smile. It is so funny how they didn't smile in photos back in the day.
