Life is Beautiful with You in it – Mini Album - Guest Designing for Meg's Garden

Hi everyone,

Long time no 'see' ..... I will still be quiet for now, till my creative side bounces back into gear.  Life has had a few hurdles..(too many obviously), but the road is smoothing out again 'now'. Just know I have thought of everyone and miss you all very much .....and in time, I will be back...

Love to all
Sandie

It was a pleasure to do some guest design work for Meg’s Garden back in Sept.  I worked with the beautiful paper collection called ‘Dreaming in the Meadows’, and due to the size of my project, included some card papers from previous collections of when I was a DT member.  The papers all matched perfectly.

Did you know that Meg's Garden is an Australian business, located in Adelaide with an online store?  The papers are designed by Denise Ann, an Australian designer.

I have been pondering over Christmas gifts for my family, (this was written back in Sept) and know my Mother just loves my Mini Albums.  I was inspired with this album, by two clever individuals – Kathy Orta, and Ginger from My Sisters Scrapper on YouTube.  Both make the most stunning of albums, and I have been itching to make one for some time.  Kathy Orta has created the hidden hinge system which I applied to this particular album, and I used Kathy’s tutorial for the album.
You can find Ginger’s YouTube Chanel 'HERE'...
and Kathy Orta’s Chanel 'HERE'...
These albums do make perfect gifts, and Meg’s Garden stocks the perfect paper sets, and embellishments for such creations.
The album itself has many hidden pockets, including side opening panels, which are held in place via magnets – ample room for photographs, and journaling and even mementos.  The photographs do not do the album justice, and do not show enough of the details, but certainly gives a good indication of what can be made.
I also used the Leafy Foliage die throughout the album for all my foliage requirements, it was perfect and a leaf shape to match each flower size.  I so love that die, and it is available at Meg’s Garden!!!

Remember This Moment LO and Card - Take Note Paper Collection - and Tea Party Collection Creations - Kaisercraft

Another fabulous paper collection by Kaisercraft called 'Take Note'.  I have used this collection to create a layout and card - I love the beautiful green hues of this collection, teamed with various shades of browns, totally delicious.  Lace, Wood Icons, fake stitching (my sewing machine isn't being cooperative withe me at the moment - boo hoo), layers, distressed edges, flowers created from die-cuts, peals, rubons, and more.....

What I like most about the Take Note paper collection, is the paper is suitable for feminine and masculine, modern and vintage - whatever takes your fancy really.  I also really enjoy the wording which is included on many of the paper pieces - wonderful for creating journaling, titles, or even card sentiments as seen below.

The photograph in the layout is of my Grandmother, brother and me, on one of our many trips to the Warby Ranges, in Victoria - we used to picnic there often, when we were young -  and it was a truly magical place with the Aussie plants, and animals.  I've often wanted to return, to see if it still feels and looks the same as when I was young - one day!  I remember that basket (in the photograph) and how it always had a stash of delicious sandwiches, cakes, and hot cocoa. On this particular day we ate cream buns, and somewhere in my photo box is a photo of us with cream all around our mouths! LOL

Further inspiration for this Kaisercraft paper collection, and others, can be found 'HERE'.  A full material's list can be found 'HERE' for the layout, and card.  All Kaisercraft paper collections, can be found at The Scrapbook Store.....

Happy Creating

Adore - Vintage Layout - Curiosity Paper Collection - Kaisercraft

Today, I have a layout created using the Curiosity Paper Collection, by Kaisercraft.  I so love this beautiful collection, with the most glorious colour pallet, and paper designs.

Behind the photograph is a hidden journaling pocket, which is pulled upwards using the Ornamental Border.  Lots of distressing to achieve the aged look, including layers, doilies, and both Kaisercraft Blooms, and hand-made flowers.

Kaisercraft have released some amazing paper collections this month, do call on over to the blog to view the inspirational pieces, from other design team members, 'HERE'...and the full materials list for this layout, can be found 'HERE'...

August New Kit Release LO's - Limited Edition - My Creative Scrapbook

Today, My Creative Scrapbook release all the new kits for August and wow, what a wonderful assortment of amazing kits Pam has put together for us this month.  As always, I worked with the Limited Edition Kit, which was so full of glorious products, including: Kaisercraft's 'One This Day' paper collection, Prima Marketing Flowers, Pink Paislee Artisan Elements, Glitz Cardstock Stickers, Doodlebug Alpha's, Laces, Ribbons and More.

The only other items I used to complete my layouts was distress ink, and several Martha Stewart Punches.

The top layout is a photograph of my eldest daughter, Amanda in her prime of 'I love Me' - each day on facebook there is a new image of 'her' - no doubt all 'selfies' LOL LOL  I couldn't resist capturing this moment in her life, and had a good chuckle over the title.  I know, Amanda will laugh too.

The 2nd layout is of John and myself - the photograph taken on Christmas Day (2012).  Lots of fussy cutting, and various punches used to decorate, along with layers of papers, and elements.
The last layout is of 'me' as a baby.  I still have the pink doggy-bear to the left of the photograph - it certainly doesn't look like 'that' anymore though!! Hidden journaling to the top of the photograph poking out with a bow, and the wording to the left are words from a poem my Mother used to read to me as I was growing up.  My Mum lost several babies before me....the first to survive, followed by two brothers.

Do call on over to the My Creative Scrapbook Blog, and you can find the website with all kit details 'HERE'....

and there is a new add on kit arriving this month, full details can be found 'HERE'.

May Sketch - The Scrapbook Store - Perfect Happy Days

The new sketch is up at The Scrapbook Store for May!!  This month using one of the gorgeous sketches by PageMaps.  My interpretation is a little different to my normal style - well I think it is.

I used the Bo Bunny Prairie Chic paper collection, along with a pile of other fun products to work with.  Full materials and links at bottom of my post.

The photograph is of me with my Mum....
I actually showed journaling in this layout, and did not hide it!  However, more personal information can be found in the pull tab beneath the photograph.  I couldn't do a layout with hidden journaling, it tends to be my 'thing'.

The prize is drawn randomly, and consists of a $40 voucher with free postage.  Hope to see some familiar faces in the sketch this month.... entry is via the Gallery found 'HERE'.

Looking forwards to showing you my creations this month with my May DT kit....

My Story - Layout - The Scrapbook Store

....and another layout created for The Scrpabook Store, using Carta Bella 'So Noted' paper collection, and elements. Again, I used the Silhouette Cameo, to do the edge of the paper border, the leaves, and  title.

The large bloom is from Green Tara, and The Scrapbook Store has a wonderful range of their products, which can be found 'HERE' - lots of new ribbons, flowers, lace, etc.

Jesse just loves reading.  John and I have both read to him, right from a young age, often. He has developed a love of books and one is never far from him.  This photograph was taken in August last year, in his new Elmo outfit, sitting on the front porch reading.  When he realised I was taking photographs, he then started the circus act of posing and then doing cartwheels.  Little charmer he is!
The Prima Mask 'Dots' was used to create a little more interest on the background paper.  I love this stencil, one of my very favourites - I love dots! I don't think there is a single page in my mixed media journal that does not have dots :-)
I will be back soon with more creations...

Vintage Family LO, and a card For Mum - Imaginarium Designs

For Imaginarium Designs this month, I have created a couple of projects using the chipboard in various ways.  The above layout is an early photograph of my Great, Great Grandparents and their children with machinery they owned which had something to do with pumping out clay.  I am not totally sure yet, the how, what and where - but how interesting.  My Great-Grandmother (Janet) is to the far left - I actually got to spend quite a bit of time with her growing up .  Certainly an amazing woman.
The below Embellishment 4, was painted first and then I applied (rather fiddly, but nice results) Liquitex Glass Beads to the chipboard.  After allowing to dry, I highlighted in a watered down, gold acrylic paint.  The glass beads, gave the Embellishment 4 a gorgeous texture.

A combination of  Capital Letters, and Lower Case Letters were used for the title.  Stippling the gold paint onto the chipboard created a metal appearance, then I used a 'crackle' stamp and ink to age the alpha's.

The Embellishment 1 was painted in gold acrylic paint, stippled to give the metal appearance - and then added to add to the floral arrangement.  I used magic mount (black) to adhere into place, as this allowed me to create height with the chipboard elements.  Lots of layers of paper lace doilies, inked with Distress Inks, and layered.
The 8" Circle Border was painted in Sandal, and gave the chipboard a little 'beating' to add some dents and marks - again, to age the chipboard elements.

Lots of pretty flowers, teamed together with gauze beneath, along with some leaves I have had in my stash since 'forever', to complete!
Embellishment 4 (IDS0013)
Embellishment 1 (IDF0003)
Circle Border 8" IDB0008
Capital Letters (IDAUC0001A)
Lower Case Letters' (IDALC0001)

 Materials
Glitz - Pretty In Pink Paper Collection - Polka, Music and Ledger
Paper Lace Doilies
Prima Marketing Flowers - Engraver
Kaisercraft - Pearl Bead Strip - Brown
Kaisercraft - Clear Stamp - Crackle
Liquitex Glass Beads
Colorbox - Stamp Pad - Brown
Ranger - Distress Ink - Vintage Photo, and Walnut Stain
Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dauber - Gold, Espresso and Sandal
Tattered Angels - Glimmer Mist - Taupe
Martha Stewart - Floral Vine Punch
Misc: Lace, Vintage Buttons, Crochet Thread, Gauze, Cardboard, Leaves, Computer Generated Journaling
..and for my 2nd project, I created a card for my Mum - it is her birthday at the end of the month.  I used the Bird Cage as a main focal point, adding in a little Prima Sparrow.

All chipboard elements were given a 'splosh' of pink and white acrylic paint, then splattered with Glimmer Mist and left to dry completely.  When dry, I embossed each piece giving a beautiful glossy appearance, yet still allowing to 'see' the texture of the paint beneath.  I so LOVE Imaginarium Designs chipboard, as I have never had any warping - no matter what I do to the chipboard elements.
Below, a close up of the butterfly - which shows the texture of the mediums I used.
...and below, the word Mum carefully coloured so the dark edges still show.  Using light colours on a light background can make the elements disappear, so thus my reasoning for leaving dark edges.
...I've included the below image to show the colour achieved, and texture on the elements, as being pale in colour, and reflective it is difficult to capture detail, unless 'close'.
