This is Us Layout - September Sketch - My Creative Sketches

The new sketch is up at My Creative Sketches for September, with a fabulous prize to be won for a random winner.  You can find all the entry details 'HERE', and the sketch below.

For my interpretation of the sketch, I turned the sketch on its side for something different, and added in an extra photograph at one of the focal points.  It was a fun sketch!!

The photographs are of me and my brother at a young age.  Mum used to take photographs of us in this one part of her flower garden all the time - it must have been a favourite place for her.  Later as we are growing older, a lot more flowers and shrubs can be found in the photographs.  My parent's built this house, so I guess at this point the flower garden was new.

I used the My Creative Scrapbook, September, Limited Edition Kit to create the layout with - full of all sorts of wonderful products, and fabulous embellishments.  You can find all the details of the Limited Edition Kit 'HERE'.
I hope you will come and join in the fun of the My Creative Sketches challenge this month!!

Happy Creating

My Creative Scrapbook - Septemeber Reveal Layouts and Cards

Hi everyone,  Its time for the September reveal for My Creative Scrapbook!  This month, I worked with the Limited Edition Kit, which was full of the new release Prima Marketing - Anna Marie.  Also lots of other wonderful items, including Wood icons, Tickets and Tags, Chipboard, Mechanical (metal) New Pendants, Pink roses, Yellow silk flowers, and Wishful thinking flowers.  Kit content image can be found at the end of my post, and to purchase please visit 'HERE'.

This kit is going to be a fast seller, so please make sure you get in fast to order, before it has sold out!

My first layout is of a dear friend of mine, this particular night, we all dressed up in 'days gone by' attire, had a few glasses of bubbly and laughed like school girls all night long.  It was a cold night, the fire was blaring .... and the hours just ticked on by.  We took oodles of photographs, and they are so much fun to look back on.
The 2nd layout is of my daughter Tayla, and myself when she was 'little'... my gosh, she has grown since this was taken.  It only seems like yesterday that she was a little girl, and now she is a woman.  At the time this photograph was taken, Tayla had been pretending to be a tea-pot. When she wanted to disappear, she would put her hand on her hip, her other hand in the air to replicate a teapot spout and would stand as still as anything.  She seriously thought she would vanish and turn into a teapot!  Where she developed this idea I have no idea, but it was a very funny aspect of her childhood for around 18 months. I can still remember calling out 'where is Tayla' .. and the other children would chime in 'being a tea pot'.
Mist splatters, and oodles of fussy cutting ... was a lot of fun creating this LO.
This Anna Marie paper collection really has the most amazing and beautiful papers.  I adore the tiny rose pattern in the layout above and didn't want to waste one little bit.  I also teamed the papers with the packaging from one of the Prima flower packets, as it really matched perfectly and used it to journal on.
The photograph of my cousin Annette, and myself on one of our many treks to Ballet.  Ballet was a big part of my life for 13 years, also tap and jazz ... you wouldn't know it now! LOL
With left over products I created a Friends Tag, and Birthday Card.
A wonderful kit to create with, and I will be returning around the 15th/16th for the September, My Creative Sketch challenge reveal with another layout created using this beautiful kit.

Till then,
Sandie

Post Card, A Love Story - My Creative Sketch - August Challenge

The latest sketch for My Creative Sketches has just been released for August, you can find all the details 'HERE'.  I loved this sketch by Liz Chidester, and had fun interpreting the sketch in my own way.  I used the August, Limited Edition Kit, from My Creative Scrapbook.  You can find all kit information and products 'HERE'....

What an amazing kit it was to work with this month, including Kaisercraft's 'One This Day' paper collection, Prima Marketing Flowers, Pink Paislee Artisan Elements, Glitz Cardstock Stickers, Doodlebug Alpha's, Laces, Ribbons and More.

The photograph is one of 'me' as a baby, with my Mum.   The postcard area is hidden journaling, and I journaled about my Mum's thoughts on her first born child... loved Mum's thoughts, words... precious plus.

Doris Layout, Mini Album and Cards - My Creative Scrapbook - Limited Edition Kit

My Creative Scrapbook's Limited Edition Kit this month is just divine.  You can find all the details and beautiful creations from the design team 'HERE' (scroll down through the design team gallery).

The only item I added into my kit was the large paper doily, and a few punches, tiny pearls, distress ink, and mists.
The photograph is of a relative of mine, called Doris Pugsley.  I believe she is sitting to the side of my Great-Grandmothers house in Yarrawonga, Victoria.  I remember my Great-Grandmother sitting in near the same place when I was growing up.  Great-Grandma had a beautiful, very large garden - it really was amazing all the flowers, fruits and vegetables she used to tend to.
The butterflies in the kit were perfect for this layout, as I always remember the garden to be full of butterflies.....I love my childhood memories, they are so precious...
..and from my left over kit contents, I created several gift cards, and a small paper bag mini album.
The kit contains several tiny, fancy paper bags, so I created the above Mini Album using them.
Two of the paper bags, I turned into gift cards - the mini paper bags hold special sentiment cards inside.
Thanks for calling into visit...

My Creative Scrapbook June Reveal - Layout, Cards and Flower Tutorial

The June reveal up for My Creative Scrapbook - to view please see end of this post and for kit content images, and for more inspiration and details, please click 'HERE', and scroll down the page for each 'kits' reveal.  The design team have done an amazing job in bringing some wonderful inspiration, techniques and tutorial's and these will be hosted throughout the month, on the My Creative Scrapbook Blog.

For June, I worked with the Limited Edition Kit, totally full of awesome products.
The flowers were misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays, and I also added in some small punched flowers, stamens and leaves to highlight the arrangement.

I tried to use up all the various elements of my kit in the below layout... a re-creation of the 1800s, with four beautiful woman, no doubt all family.  Not really sure the view-finder really matches, but I loved the look of it in the layout.  :-)
This month I have completed a few techniques to share on the My Creative Scrapbook Blog, including how I highlighted flowers, paper creases and edges, and more with Gold paint.
Also, I have completed a tutorial on the ribbon flowers below and how simple they are to create. I will link back 'HERE' with the tutorial, once it is up on the My Creative Scrapbook Blog.

I added in a few paper doily's from my stash to create the above card, with left over elements from the LE kit..and decorated the hand-crafted flowers using buttons from my stash.
I will be back next month with the July reveal and am eagerly awaiting my package to arrive!!!

Happy Creating

How to create a flower from trims

Photograph 5

1. Using the larger of the two trims in the June Kit, cut off a piece which has 7 points.  Double thread a needle with strong quilting cotton, and tie off end well.
2. Run small gathering stitches along the non-pointed edge, as shown in Photograph 2.
Photograph 2
3. Pull threads tightly as pictured in Photograph 3, to form flower shape, tie off well on back of flower.  Please Noter: Tiny stitches aids in getting a nice gather in the flower and it will sit a lot lower, and be less bulky.  AND, adding a touch of glue to your knots will keep flowers from unravelling.
Photograph 3
4. Use metal elements as shown in Photograph 4 from June’s kit, to create a flower centre. Any embellishment can be used, including buttons, beads, pearls, jewels, etc. for the centre part of flower.

5. Apply to your crafting project (Photograph 5).

Please Note:  The colour of your flower can be change easily, by using spray mist.  You can create flowers which will match ‘any’ craft project.

'Lovely' Layout - My Creative Scrapbook - June Challenge

The new sketch is up on the My Creative Sketches Blog!!  The sketch is below, and it is so sweet.... and thus, my interpretation of the challenge above.

I used the My Creative Scrapbook, Limited Edition (JUNE) kit, to complete my sketch.... full of totally gorgeous products.  All details on the kits available, can be found 'HERE'.

Our Limited Edition Kit this month was so full of the most delightful goodies, so much to play with... I'm a little late in posting my creations this month as my kit got held up in customs - thinking the sniffer dogs liked the pizza Pam was eating while packing the kits (only joking LOL).

The photograph is of my Grandmother, Margaret, with a family friend Gertie.  I so adore the way they wore gloves in those days and wonder if they will ever come back into fashion.  Their dresses are so sweet, and matching hats of course. Sadly, I do not know how old Grandma is in this photograph, but I do remember 'her' working in the 'hops' around this time when she 'looked' like this.... so I'd say either late 60s or early 70s.  Grandma was a wonderful woman, I miss her terribly, but hold those memories dear to me, of her and the way she was....

The only items I added into my kit were a Martha Stewart Leaf punch, some Mist Sprays, and of course adhesive...
I will be back to show more of my layouts and cards soon.  Call on over to the My Creative Scrapbook Blog, for inspiration, tutorials and techniques throughout the month - the Design Team have been working super hard to bring everyone some fabulous projects and ideas.
Looking forwards to seeing some familiar faces in the sketch challenge this month...

I Love Thee - Zeus and Zoe - May Challenge

Hi Everyone,  the new Zeus and Zoe challenge for May is inspired by a beautiful mood board that Riikka has created.  You can find all details 'HERE' on the Zeus and Zoe blog.

My inspiration this month comes from the contents of the mood board, and I had a lot of fun in combining my Zeus and Zoe kit contents, with the sponsor items.

Our sponsors this month are Couture Creations, and May Arts.  It was fabulous using such beautiful products - the beautiful lace die above and below on my layout is from Couture Creations.  I also used lace which I dyed with Shadow Mists, and leaves from  May Arts. The leaves I actually painted, and then inked to get that earthy appearance which teamed nicely with the colour hues already used.
There is a fabulous prize this month, consisting of 20 yards of  May Arts ribbons, lace, trims.
and.....a random prize (below) of a gorgeous die, and embossing folder pack from Couture Creations

The photograph I scrapped for this layout is of my Mum, with my Grandfather, and my Aunts Helen, Janet and Diane.  I am unsure who the blonde lady is and must ask my Mum!
I loved the words below and thought it would be nice to incorporate as a tile.
The old doily, key, papers, ornate yellow jewel piece and flowers are from my Zeus and Zoe kit - Marivic puts together the most amazing kits, and even custom makes them for her customers.  You can find the Zeus and Zoe Etsy Shop 'HERE'.
I will be back later in the month with another creation to show....
