Best Wishes, Vintage Card - Imaginarium Designs

 One of my projects for Imaginarium Designs this month is this 'Best Wishes' Card.

The 'Best Wishes' card holds the 'Swirly Frame' (IDFR0004) which is just so ornate with delicate details (so pretty and one of my very favourites).  It stands at 3" X 2" and is perfect for framing small photographs or pictures in creative projects.  Also, there is a larger version available (6" X 4").  I really wanted the frame to stand out on my card, so I painted the frame with 'Antique Gold', and then a light layer of 'Gold' (which is a little brighter) using Creative Inspiration Paints.  This process gave a beautiful shimmer to the frame, really enhancing the chipboard. 'Best Wishes' (IDW0008) chipboard piece was applied to the base of the card, and painted in the same manner.  The 'Best Wishes' chipboard photograph (below), shows how beautiful the paint shimmers after being painted - I just love it.

The 'Swirly Frame' was surrounded with a floral arrangement using a variety of different elements - from a ready made flower, to die cuts/punches, silk ribbons, and charms.  For a full list of products, see bottom of post.

Large Oval Vintage Tag - Cheery Lynn Designs

Christmas is over for another year, and I do hope you all had a wonderful time with loved ones.  Now, New Years is just around the corner....

Today, I want to show you a vintage, oval tag I created for Cheery Lynn Designs. This oval shaped tag could easily be transformed into a photo/memory booklet, or made to hang on a wall, showing off precious photographs.  

The base for the tag was cut from the XL-8 Oval Scalloped Stacker Series, and my actual photograph was cut from the L-7 Classic Oval Silver Series, and then framed in the most intricately beautiful, DL136 Japanese Garden Lace Oval Frame.  The largest backing piece was embossed using the PS107 Stitcher Plate, then lightly sanded for that distressed look, using Core-dinations cardstock.

To decorate, I used the inside greenery from the Japanese Garden Lace Oval Frame, and teamed it with the B147 OliveBranches.  The Olive Branches were cut into various sizes and weaved in and amongst the roses, and upwards to frame the photograph. 

I formed three B155 Large Roses, curling the petals up tightly and adhering for the centre and then built the petals little by little around the centre of the rose.  Some of the petals were curled inwards, and others outwards.  There are certainly ‘many’ ways to create roses, from these beautiful dies, and of course are available in three various sizes.  

To complete the tag, I used Creative Inspirations paint to highlight different areas, especially the roses, as well as Tim Holtz distress inks on edges.  Prima porcelain roses and pearls were adhered, and some of my vintage guipure lace and silk ribbon which I hand-dyed in variegated colours to match, were used to complete my project.

Decorated Frame using Chipboard Elements

Another project that has been in the ‘making’ for some time completed – phew!  I picked this frame up at a cheap-shop some time ago for $2.  It really appealed to me as the wood is rough and when painted shows off the delicate detail of the actual wood-grain. 

However, to photograph the frame I had to take the glass out, as no matter which way I tried, there was always a reflection of some type.

 

The products I used for the frame are:

ScrapFX Wordlets, “100% Boy” which I chopped up and only used the 100% and Rough & Tough parts of the chipboard.

Creative Inspiration paint - “Antique Silver”

Tim Holtz distress ink – Stormy Sky & also ‘Corners’ in silver

The frame was originally raw wood, so I knew this would soak in any paint – gesso was used as a base coat. Next, I applied “Stormy Sky” distress ink over the whole frame.  The ink seeped beautifully into the wood-grain!!  I allowed this to dry overnight before tinkering any further.  The following day, I used the Imaginarium Designs chipboard cogs as masks, placing them over the frame and then lightly spraying with the Riptide glimmer mist.  This left a lovely pale image of painted cogs, which I adore!!

The chipboard elements were all glimmer misted with Riptide, and when totally dried, painted with Creative Inspiration’s, Antique Silver paint.  The reason I applied the glimmer mist to the chipboard elements in blue first, is that blue actually highlights/compliments silver perfectly. 

I’ve taken several different photographs with different light-sources, so that the the intricate detail of the chipboard and paint shimmers can be seen.   I just love the way the light plays off the painted chipboard, so pretty, and those cogs almost look like real metal!!!

The photograph is of my son, Jesse, taken in July this year at the age of 16 months.

Now to finish a few more projects, which have been in the making for some time....
