My creations for Meg's Garden this month are based around the Victorian era. The Victorian era (1847 - 1901 with the reign of Queen Victoria) was a time in history when many new beginnings unfolded, and individuals described the era a time of 'enligtenment'. It was an ear of change, and those who were (lucky enough) to be in the middle class and upwards lived, surrounded in opulence. Women created beautiful ornate embroideries, tapestries and wore beautiful gowns, their waists tiny, from the tight capture of a corset.
My project is built on a canvas, which measures a little over 6 inches square. I really wanted the canvas to have texture, so I used texture paste, and while still wet, stamped a brick image (Prima) onto the canvas. When completely dry, a wash of 'Walnut Stain' distress ink, and a swipe 'here and there' of crackle medium.
Meg's Garden has a delightful range of beautiful flowers which are definately worth investigating. Also, some gorgeous boxboard frames (can be found under heading 'laser cut frames') which are very ornate and leave a lot of scope in the creating side. I painted my frame with Creative Inpirations 'gold' paint, and used a crackle medium over the top. When dry, I applied a light wash of 'Walnut Stain' distress ink to seep into those tiny cracks aging the piece perfectly.
Then... I surrounded one side of the frame in various flowers (these can be found under embellishments 'HERE'). Beneath the frame and flowers, I used the Lace Organza Flower - these pieces are stunning!
The "Cherish and Adore' Title are from Imaginarium Designs.
Also this month, Megs Garden has released a new paper collection designed by Denise Ann, called "Forget-Me-Not" pictured below. It is so beautiful!!! These papers are available 'now' and can be found under the heading 'What's New and Exciting'. The paper range consists of 8 variations of 12" X 12", that are also each teamed with a 4" X 12" matching piece. There are 2 A4 element paper sheets, and a mini cardmakers pack.
Soon, we will have the new Design Team members of Meg's Garden joining in with the challenges. Please call on over to the Meg's Garden Blog for further inspiration from the Design Team, and for updated news and wonderful, inspiring creations....

My oh my! This is quite superb Sandie. It must have been fun to make. Love those new papers from Denise Ann.
Sandie, I am amazed - AGAIN - at what you have created with this lovely, elegant project. I love the textured background and 'aged' flowers. I've never used texture paint but think I might have to soon! Vicky
