Perfect Day LO - Card and Tag - The Scrapbook Store

I'm back with a new layout for The Scrapbook Store, using the Melissa Frances - Classic Elegance Paper Collection, - Bits of Paper, and Strictly Business to create a masculine layout.

The photograph was taken recently when Jesse got to spend sometime with his big sister, her husband and the two boys - he was eagerly awaiting them to arrive by relaxing on the foreshore wall.   I couldn't resist in taking a pile of snaps of him... and love his serious expression.
Many of the elements within the layout have been misted using Perfect Pearls, and Starburst Mists.  Papers were aged  via scrunching and distressing edges, adding lots of paper layers using the 6X6 Paper Pad. A little extra interest was added to the background paper using the Tile Texture stencil, and Texture Paste.
I always struggle doing masculine layouts, but am happy with this one...

Materials:
Melissa Frances - Classic Elegance Paper Collection, - Bits of Paper, and Strictly Business
Prima Marketing, Flowers Misc
Maya Road, Wood - You've Been Framed
Green Tara - Petals
The Scrapbook Store - Scrap Words, Burnt Cream

...and with left over papers, elements from my DT kit this month ..I created a card and a tag..

Happy Creating...and don't forget to come join in the fun of the August Sketch - details can be found 'HERE'...

Today, I have a layout created using the Curiosity Paper Collection, by Kaisercraft.  I so love this beautiful collection, with the most glorious colour pallet, and paper designs.

Behind the photograph is a hidden journaling pocket, which is pulled upwards using the Ornamental Border.  Lots of distressing to achieve the aged look, including layers, doilies, and both Kaisercraft Blooms, and hand-made flowers.

Love Mini Album - Curiosity Paper Collection - Kaisercraft

 Hi Everyone,

Today, I have a 'Love' Mini album to show, created using the Curiosity Paper Collection, and many other elements available through Kaisercraft.  The album is not small, and measures 8" X 10", and each page is full of trinkets, flowers, and plenty of pockets and tags.

I think one of my favourite uses for transparency sheets, is creating pockets which photographs an slip into easily and be changed if needed at a later date.  The cover itself has one of these pockets.

The Kaisercraft Design Team has been busy in their creativity and have some amazing creations which can be found on the Kaisercraft Blog - so do pop on over for further inspiration using this beautiful paper collection and the other paper collections released this month.

Full materials list, can be found 'HERE'.

I will be back later in the month to showcase further collections...
Thanks for visiting...

My Story - Layout - The Scrapbook Store

....and another layout created for The Scrpabook Store, using Carta Bella 'So Noted' paper collection, and elements. Again, I used the Silhouette Cameo, to do the edge of the paper border, the leaves, and  title.

The large bloom is from Green Tara, and The Scrapbook Store has a wonderful range of their products, which can be found 'HERE' - lots of new ribbons, flowers, lace, etc.

Jesse just loves reading.  John and I have both read to him, right from a young age, often. He has developed a love of books and one is never far from him.  This photograph was taken in August last year, in his new Elmo outfit, sitting on the front porch reading.  When he realised I was taking photographs, he then started the circus act of posing and then doing cartwheels.  Little charmer he is!
The Prima Mask 'Dots' was used to create a little more interest on the background paper.  I love this stencil, one of my very favourites - I love dots! I don't think there is a single page in my mixed media journal that does not have dots :-)
I will be back soon with more creations...

I Love Birds Tag - Brother and Sister Layout - Imaginarium Designs

Hi Everyone, Its lovely to be back creating for Imaginarium Designs for 2013.
Firstly, I created an old world tag, showcasing the Bird Cage, which hosts two of the cutest birds from the Glitz - Pretty In Pink Paper Layer.  I added a small portion of the Edwards Relief Border (left over from another project) to the lower edge of the Bird Cage.  Both chipboard elements were given the distress look by applying several layers of paint, and then a light application of crackle medium.  I really adore the appearance of the tiny cracks.
When applying crackle medium to chipboard elements, care needs to be taken that the medium is not too thick - when thick, it will easily chip off in areas, which does appeal visually, but not what I was seeking in this project.
I love silk, so had to add some pretty silk flowers into the arrangement.
The Butterfly and  Small Clock were painted with Gold, Adirondack acrylic paint dauber.  Dabbing the actual paint onto the chipboard pieces, gives a nice texture, almost resembling a metal surface.

Rock Candy, Ranger Crackle Medium
Snow Cap, Pitch Black, and Gold Adirondack Acrylic Paint Daubers

...and for my second project, I created a monochromatic layout, with a splash of red.  The Anna Frame, was mounted on top of the Swirly Frame, after paints and mediums were applied. Every chipboard elements on this layout was painted in either, black or white, or both black and white.  Painting in two colours can give the chipboard a lot more character when crackle medium is applied - it leaves elements of both colours showing.
The photograph is of my brother and myself, some years ago now :-)  It is my brother (Paul's) birthday today - he would have been 43.  Sadly he passed away in a car accident at the age of 20.  This is a special memory, I hold dear for many reasons...
Glass seed beads were added to the large Butterfly, and several beads threaded onto wire for the antenna.  Of course the butterflies all come with their own antenna, though I managed to rip one off  when plucking from the chipboard surround.  I like the beaded antenna though!
A close up of all those glorious cracks!!
...and a touch of colour in 'red' using various flower, and die-cut elements.  I even ratted through my stash and found some old rub-ons and managed to apply them without any drama.  I normally mess rub-ons up in a huge manner, so nice to have success here!!
I carefully separated the title Brother and Sister, using sharp scissors painting them in contrasting colours and spreading throughout layout.

'Forget Me Not' Accordian Album - Meg's Garden - Aust Scrapbooking Creations Magazine

 Hi Everyone,

Today, I want to share with you a project I completed for Meg's Garden back in April, 2012.  It was published in Australian Scrapbooking Creations several months ago now, in Issue #95.

For April my challenge from Meg's Garden was to create an accordion album.  I have wanted to create one of these for quite some time.  Now I have made one, I am 'seriously' hooked. What a fantastic way to hold keepsakes and memories!!  There is a lot of creative scope with an accordion album.

For this album I wanted to showcase the gorgeous paper collection, 'Forget Me Not', designed by Denise Ann.  The papers are truly beautiful, gorgeous colour hues, with dainty flowers, garden settings, birds, nests and gorgeous vintage pictures of children. You can find the paper collection 'HERE'.
Meg's Garden has a beautiful range of paper roses, the above picture shows off a small portion.  Also, there is a new range also available which no doubt you will see in upcoming creations!

I aged the box board frame by using Gesso, crackle medium, and ink. The lace beneath the frame is several pieces of a German Scrap border, which was gold.  I was not too keen on the brightness of the gold, so I turned the German Scrap upside down and lightly inked the pattern.  Very pleased with how it turned out, considering it is reversed.
Each page of my accordion album hosts one of the papers from the 'Forget Me Not' cardmakers paper collection.  The first page, I placed a velum saying, the rest I have left blank for photographs, and/or journaling.

The reversed side of the album I used the 12 X 12 'Shades of Blue' paper, die cutting elements for either photographs or journaling.  Enhanced with little ornate flower corners.
The wire flower curls are the stems of the flowers - I just wind them around a skewer to create the swirls.
Meg's  Garden hosts an amazing collection of charms, they are the most highest of quality and really are 'all' gorgeous! I used one of the many key's available, and attached to the album through an eyelet hole, and chain.
