Beautiful Memories Album...

Just popping in to share a paper bag mini album I created recently, using some papers from way back when (many years ago from the ScrapCake).  Most of the items and products used in this album are years old - I'm on a venture to use up some of my older stash.  My older stash is dwindling, but not sure my family would agree with that .. considering they think my studio looks more like a shop.

I haven't showed off all the pages, but several and I just adore the flowers, most are from Prima Marketing.  All pages include flip pages, with magnets, which enables so much more room to add photographs or journal areas.

Enjoy the weekend ...

To The World - The Scrapbook Store...

I'm a little late in showing off my May projects (more coming), Jesse and I have been struggling with 'man flu' - now Dad's also caught it, so its now man flu plus some. My head is still full and I'm still not 100% but of course Jesse bounced back within days - me a week now.  Joys of Winter... and its now upon us with yesterday seeing the first signs of frost....

Anyhow, this month for The Scrapbook Store, I have been designing with the Penelope Dee, Mother of Pearl Papers.  They are just glorious!! I opted to use some fussy cutting, which I have not done for some time now.  The 'beautiful' (name of it) paper was perfect, with oodles of amazing roses.  Teamed with some gauze from the medical cupboard, that was painted with Heidi Swap, Color Shine and Lindy's Stamp Gang mists, and lastly splashed with some gesso - flowers included.  The paper range comes with many sayings, and I cut up several to create my own for a title.

I have had this photograph of my daughter floating about for some time, its a lovely 'selfie' which if I remember correctly I managed to grab off Facebook, and hoped for the best when I printed it that it would be good enough quality!!  I'm pretty sure my two girls were trying to out-selfie-each other... lol Today, Tayla turns 20 - where did those years go!!

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend ...xx

You make my heart smile Card and Tag - The Scrapbook Store

This month for The Scrapbook Store, I created a card tutorial, you can find all the full details 'here'. The card is simplistic, and can be used for many occasions by changing the journaling note card, or simply by adding a sentiment.

Also, using the left over elements from my DT kit, I created the tag card below.  Its amazing how you can put together bits and pieces, and still manage to create something pretty.  Left over elements from the 2Crafty Frame piece from my layout, and the border elements left over from the card and album. The background paper is gorgeous by Prima Marketing, called 'Transformation' in the Cherry Blossom Collection - I wanted to match the top panel of my tag, so covered the cardstock with the matching decorative tape, with butterflies.  A bit fiddly matching the lines up, but with a bit of patience, looks so pretty.  I had a little snippet of the Green Tara 30mm lace left, and added this and the left over flowers from the packs.  The Kaisercraft 'Wooden Flourishes' and 'Alphabet' are from my stash from a few years ago.

I don't like things being perfectly straight, so after completing the 'happy' title, I realised how straight it was and made the 'birthday' slightly uneven.  Keeping these little alphabet stickers (or other types of stickers) on your creations can be difficult as over time the adhesive doesn't hold and they fall off!  I applied a smear of Scotch Quick Dry adhesive onto the wooden flourish after painting it, and then added while wet the alphabet.  Then, when dry, I wiped another layer of adhesive over the top to seal it.

Recently I went through a lot of my older layouts from 4-5 years ago, most were still in the same condition as when I created them.  However, there were some layouts with elements that literally were in the bottom of the packaging I had them stored in. It took me many hours to replace and fix with the correct adhesive.  So, now when anything has its own adhesive backing, I never use it - I apply a good reliable adhesive to ensure it will be there in years to come.

Life is Beautiful with You in it – Mini Album - Guest Designing for Meg's Garden

Hi everyone,

Long time no 'see' ..... I will still be quiet for now, till my creative side bounces back into gear.  Life has had a few hurdles..(too many obviously), but the road is smoothing out again 'now'. Just know I have thought of everyone and miss you all very much .....and in time, I will be back...

Love to all
Sandie

It was a pleasure to do some guest design work for Meg’s Garden back in Sept.  I worked with the beautiful paper collection called ‘Dreaming in the Meadows’, and due to the size of my project, included some card papers from previous collections of when I was a DT member.  The papers all matched perfectly.

Did you know that Meg's Garden is an Australian business, located in Adelaide with an online store?  The papers are designed by Denise Ann, an Australian designer.

I have been pondering over Christmas gifts for my family, (this was written back in Sept) and know my Mother just loves my Mini Albums.  I was inspired with this album, by two clever individuals – Kathy Orta, and Ginger from My Sisters Scrapper on YouTube.  Both make the most stunning of albums, and I have been itching to make one for some time.  Kathy Orta has created the hidden hinge system which I applied to this particular album, and I used Kathy’s tutorial for the album.
You can find Ginger’s YouTube Chanel 'HERE'...
and Kathy Orta’s Chanel 'HERE'...
These albums do make perfect gifts, and Meg’s Garden stocks the perfect paper sets, and embellishments for such creations.
The album itself has many hidden pockets, including side opening panels, which are held in place via magnets – ample room for photographs, and journaling and even mementos.  The photographs do not do the album justice, and do not show enough of the details, but certainly gives a good indication of what can be made.
I also used the Leafy Foliage die throughout the album for all my foliage requirements, it was perfect and a leaf shape to match each flower size.  I so love that die, and it is available at Meg’s Garden!!!

Friends Layout and You are Loved Card - Lady Rose - Kaisercraft

...and another glorious, elegant paper collection by Kaisercraft called 'Lady Rose'.  A full list of all products and further design team inspiration can be found over on the Kaisercraft Blog, highlighting all the new paper collection this month.

This certainly is an elegant paper collection, with such pretty colour hues.  I opted to do a large floral arrangement, adding in some of the Kaisercraft Pearl Flourishes, and blooms.  My sewing machine refuses to work at the moment (stuck in reverse) so in obvious need of a service. So I hand-stitched the outer edge of the layout just to add a little more visual texture.

The Lady Rose paper collection has some beautiful sentiments to use in layouts and cards, especially for friends.... this particular photograph is not a family member, but simply a beautiful vintage photograph I adored.   My journaling on the back of the layout includes the special cats I have been lucky to have shared my life with, at some point, and their stories.....

Thanks for calling in ...

October Sketch - The Beauty Of Yesteryear LO - The Scrapbook Store

October is here, and I have no idea where September went (flashed by so quickly)!!  Another new sketch is up on The Scrapbook Store Gallery, with a fabulous random prize to be won - entry is via the Gallery and all you have to do is create.

A gorgeous sketch, by Melina Spinks - really adore those branches and had the perfect 'twigs' to use which are The Scrapbook Store's own brand of chipboard.  I opted to segregate the photograph into 3, as per the sketch - it is rather different, and I have seen this done by a few (especially lately) in my blog visits -  I actually really like it.

The Silhouette Cameo was used to create my own splatter stencil - using a SVG file, and acetate.

At the moment I am going through my 'old stash' and seeing what I can use within my layouts and creations.  It is dwindling slowly, and it is a nice feeling seeing my 'old stash' pile go down.

Hope you'll consider coming and joining in the fun of this months sketch challenge!

Dreamy Love Layout - Guest Design for Meg's Garden

Today, I am guest designing for Meg's Garden, using the new release Dreaming In The Meadows paper collection.  Meg's Garden is an Australian, online store, specialising in unique papers designed by fellow Australian, Denise Ann.   The store itself has a wealth of wonderful products that cater for the paper-crafter.  You can also find beautiful creations by the design team on the Meg's Garden Blog,  including product updates, and new release paper collections.

I have had this photograph sitting in my 'photo stack' for some time, wanting to be scrapped.  This paper collection was perfect for the occasion.  I don't tend to work in purple hues often, even though it is a beautiful colour, I often avoid it for some reason. The photograph itself is of a vintage wedding - I purchased the original photograph of Etsy and the writing inscribed on the back, I sadly cannot decipher.  Regardless, it is a beautiful one to scrap.
The Dreaming In The Meadows paper collection, was perfect for lots of fussy cutting - with those fussy cut elements mounted on foam to give dimension.
Meg has a beautiful selection of lace paper doily's which are the best I have ever come across, with such gorgeous intricate detail and available in a vast amount of styles and sizes.  You can find all the paper lace doily's 'HERE'.   The doily's are a high quality, and the intricate details in the doily, can also be easily fussy cut.
Flowers used in this layout, are from Prima Marketing and are an older stock.   They were a perfect match colour wise.  I also used a chipboard title, which has been floating about in my stash for quite some time. I have a box on my work-desk, which I throw remnants, and left over products into, and delve into it on occasion to find that 'special' piece for a layout....

I will be back 'soon', with another creation .... till then, happy creating

Kaisercraft - St Nicolas Paper Collection - Layout and Cards

Another month has arrived, and Kaisercraft have released some tantalising new paper collections!   Today, I am showing the St Nicolas paper collection, which is full of old world Christmas papers - Santa's and beautiful, vintage inspired patterns - right up my alley!

Lots of fussy cutting, and a touch of glitter for the roses...

Gorgeous little birds, resembling Robin-Redbreast's adorn many of the papers, and elements.

..and a card, using one of the many vintage Santa images - they are so sweet!!!

Card Inside
Some of the paper elements include ready made sentiments, perfect for making quick and easy Christmas cards.  I highlighted using Gold Stickles, every element used.

...and another card, using another vintage image.... teamed with some Collectable elements, roses, and fussy cut holly leaves.

I don't think I have ever made a centre step card - wasn't as difficult as I thought!!
The next few months will fly by and Christmas will be here before I know it!! Yikes.... where does the year go?

Thanks for coming by to visit, I love reading your comments.. Don't forget to stop by the Kaisercraft Blog for further inspiration from the other design team members...

Have a wonderful day

Timeless Moments Layout - Blue Fern Studio's Challenge Sketch

I managed to get a little creative this weekend gone, and got to use some newly purchased chipboard from Blue Fern Studio's.  It was hard to pick which piece to use, but the 'Fancy Fob Watch' won.

I have joined in with the Blue Fern Studio, September Sketch Challenge this month. You can find the details 'HERE', and the sketch below.

The image I have used is from a vintage cabinet card, they were very popular in years gone by - and always the most gorgeous, dreamy, images.  With the touch of blue in the image, I actually used some of the Blue Fern Studio packaging beneath the image, as it matched perfectly.  It really does have a gorgeous design on the packaging and I will be hoarding other packs, to re-use as well.

I was very impressed with the quality of Blue Fern Studio's chipboard elements, it is a nice thickness and really took a beating with several layers of embossing/heat,and then paint as well.   I also, used a 'word' stamp across the chipboard, just to give a little more character to the piece.

The papers I used, are left over from my DT kit from The Scrapbook Store - FabScraps, Shabbylicious paper collection.  A full materials list can be found at the end of my post.

The background, was created using a hand-made stencil using the Silhouette Cameo, and some acetate.  It was an interesting process, and one I would attempt again.

Thanks for calling in for a visit, hope you have a wonderful day/evening..

Truly, Madly, Deeply Shabby LO - The Scrapbook Store - Scrap Around the World

Hi Everyone,

This is my first creation for The Scrapbook Store this month, using the beautiful Shabbylicious paper collection, by FabScraps.  I absolutely love this paper collection - the soft hues of blues, greys and pinks (pinks will be shown soon).

I used the new WOW  Flourish 1 Stencil, to add some texture to the background paper. You can find the complete collection of stencils available 'HERE'.  These particular stencils are clear, and are made of a thicker and harder material than other stencils I have played around with previously.  There are some gorgeous patterns available...

Also, for September I decided to enter Scrap Around the World, Challenge.  The challenge details can be found 'HERE'.   Firstly, I used the mood board (below) as inspiration, the image of the young girl holding no doubt a parents hand - love is obvious.  So I created a layout based on my love for my son, Jesse - I journaled extensively on the back of my layout on this topic.  Then, I also used the monochromatic colour pallet of the mood board also, and created in a whimsical, shabby chic manner.  Who says a boy layout cannot be pretty!! LOL

I used the Truly, Madly, Deeply chipboard title, by Scrap FX - painting it in white and highlighting edges on one side like a shadow with Waterfall Stickles.
This month I have made a promise to myself to start using some of my odd flowers up in my stash, and have successfully incorporated a pile into this layout from Green TaraManor House, and Prima Marketing - all brands are available at The Scrapbook Store. Bandage Gauze was used to soften around flowers....
...I will be back with 'pink' ... sometime very soon..
Enjoy your day/evening
