I don't often get to participate in challenges, but I have admired the 'My Creative Sketch' challenge for some time, and all the amazing entries, sketches, and design team creations. Worth popping over and investigating, if you have not been there previously...they also sell the most glorious of kits!
I really liked the sketch by 'Kim Kean', so last night, I found a little more time than I normally would and got busy creating a layout of my son, with one of my very favourite photographs, taken last year. He has the most adorable smile, just like his Daddy.
I seriously struggle making 'masculine' layouts, but am very pleased with how this particular layout turned out. I think next time though, I will add in some stamped images, perhaps a wash of paint, some texture... the list goes on. Why I didn't think of this last night....:-)

I used chipboard elements from Imaginarium Designs to embellish, coating in several coats of Gesso - I wanted the chipboard elements to be 'real white'. However, after seeing Natalie's layout (you can see Natalie's projects 'HERE') on the Imaginarium Designs Blog earlier, I now wished I'd used spray paint - looks magical and so clear, crisp and beautiful.
Of course, I used Helmar adhesives all the way through my layout - making my creating life so much easier. I really adore their products, and no, not just because I am on their design team, but because I love their products - that is why I am on the team!
Layering the chipboard looked quite effective, and to complete, I used old world style button charms from Scrap Matrix.
The journaling, I spied on Pinterest (where else? hehehe) though I changed some of the words to fit 'my son and myself'. It just seemed so perfect...
Well, I hope you'll pop on over to My Creative Sketches and check out the current challenge, and perhaps be inspired to participate yourself...
Happy Creating
Sandie
