Shabby Chic Mini and Layout - Last Post for Imaginarium Designs

 photo DSCF5061_zpsd5156b39.jpg
Hello Everyone,
This is my last post for Imaginarium Designs, as I retire this month after being part of their design team for the past 18 months.  I want to say a BIG thank you to Jane, for having confidence in my work and taking me in as part of the team.  It has been a wonderful journey and one I will be truly thankful for - 'always'.  AND, also to Nat who has made the process of the design team so much easier and of course the wonderful design team members I have worked with over the last year and a half.  Thank you so much ...xxx

This month I have created two projects in shabby chic style - firstly, a mini album for 2013, titled 'My Reflections' - though the title is on the inside. See photographs. The Imaginarium Designs chipboard elements for the mini album have been painted, then a heat gun applied, slightly bubbling the paint. You do have to be careful when doing this method, as you can easily burn the chipboard.  When the paint has bubbled, it leaves an exquisite texture!!  I applied with a brush a liberal amount of starburst spray, in several coats, drying between layers.  The spray mist seeps into the grooves of the paint beautifully, and the finer details are revealed.

The oval flourish was carefully cut into two segments, and then manipulated to the curved shape of the mini album.
 photo DSCF5057_zps1c1c59e2.jpg
A range of flowers to decorate the album, but not distract from the chipboard pieces used, and two hand-created crystal hat pins to further decorate.

The album was covered using Kaisercrafts 'Bonjour' paper, and then painted with gesso, and wiped over with Cotton Candy Pink starburst spray.

Sheer pink ribbon adorns the 'ring' holding the album together.

There are 10 pages all up in the album, which measures a little under 7".  I'm only showing several pages due to the post being so graphic intensive.  Being a lace queen, I used some of my stash and decorated the rim of each page.

The above and below letters, shows close up detail of the painted effect of the chipboard.

Below I have used the tulip flourish, carefully cut into segments and only partly adhered onto the page.  A photograph or journaling card can be inserted beneath.

One of the 2 frames on a board was decorated with string, half pearls, and a couple of small Kaisercraft blooms, ready for a title.

The circle border 8" has been used as an element to hold tags, with plenty of room to add more beneath the boarder.

...and my 2nd project is a layout of my Mother when she was a little girl, with some of the neighbours who were close friends of the family. I love this photograph of my Mum, she looks so adorable with her hair all curled - no doubt in ringlets.

The title, Childhood, is only part of the original chipboard title of Childhood Memories.  I had previously used the 'memories' on another project.  All the chipboard elements were coloured using pink and white paint, stippling the colour over the elements to achieve a mottled appearance.

The Anna Frame, and Embellishment 1 Frame were layered, and the Clock Compass was carefully cut in half and used to decorate.

Prima Marketing flowers, and Vivaldi Blooms were used to do floral arrangements.

Butterflies and the a Small Birdcage were used to decorate the page. I love them butterflies, one of my favourite Imaginarium Designs chipboard elements.

Gorgeous Sandie. I love the circle border. Did you emboss it and if so which embossing folder did you use. I also like the pink colour you've used. Thanks for sharing. Karen.x
