The Scrapbook Store, Touch Layout - Bird is the Word Challenge

Another of my DT projects for The Scrapbook Store.  October brings many new products to the 'Store', you can view them 'HERE'.  Also, do not forget the Grab Our Blinkie Competition, fantastic prizes up for grabs - check out the details on The Scrapbook Store Blog, 'HERE'.

I am entering my layout into the challenge 'Bird is the Word' with the theme of 'Touch'.  My take on the sketch is below....

My layout hosts one of my very favourite photographs of John and Jesse - a bonding time, when Jesse first came home from hospital.  He looks like a little old man, full of wisdom and ready to tackle the world.  Well, yesterday he tackled the drinking chocolate - cannot believe the mess he created in a mere 5 minutes.  He kept saying to me 'I cooking Mum', so proud of himself - I couldn't be mad, it was so cute (the mess was not *shudder*).
My DT kit for October, contained some gorgeous products from the Prima Marketing, Zephyr Collection.  I applied a light misting of water and a few droplets to the Textured White Cardstock base, then added some distress ink to colour.  The main paper is called Celeste, and the strip downwards is called Gramercy - both were aged using water and scrunching up gently with the fingers - inking slightly while still damp to get that lovely 'seepy' colour.

Several Cheery Lynn Designs dies were used, the Sophia's Heart, and the Large Sunflower Doily, and the Martha Stewart Floral Vine punch was used beneath the flowers to the left.
Flowers consist of the large Manor House bloom, then surrounding flowers from the Silentium, Zephyr Collection, and also matching Zephyr Buttons, tied with some Hemp Twine. I also added some Natural Jute Ribbon to coordinate with the hemp twine.  Leaves are from the Martha Stewart Medium Frond Punch. The title is 'letters' from Imaginarium Designs, and is coloured with Burnt Clay from CI Paints. Journaling was completed using the trendy Zephry Fabric Alphabet.
With my left over Zephyr Collection papers, I'll be completing a layout on my Mum when she was younger.  Be back soon to show you....
