Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree - Cheery Lynn Designs

For Cheery Lynn Designs this week, I have created a Christmas tree, table decoration.  The base of the tree is a hot chocolate container, which is covered with cardstock, and then the Snowflake Edger border was added to decorate.
Cheery Lynn Designs have an amazing range of Christmas dies, you can find them 'HERE'.

I have a love of snowflakes, probably due to being an Australian, and only ever seeing snow once in my life.  Even though I was only very young, I can remember every single detail of our trip to the snow, and how cold 'that' snow was!

My Christmas Tree has been totally decorated with snowflakes, including the negative die-cuts from the Snowflake Edger.  The list of dies used can be found below.
The challenge over on the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge Blog is 'Tags'.  You only need to add one Cheery Lynn Designs die to enter, and have the chance to win a $20 voucher to the store.  For further inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, visit the Cheery Lynn Designs Inspirational Blog.
Have a wonderful day

Vintage Inspired Layout, and a Christmas Card - Imaginarium Designs

Hi everyone, this month I have created two projects using Imaginarium Designs chipboard.   My first project is a vintage inspired layout, using one of my favourite chipboard pieces, the Clock Face without Centre or Hands.

The photograph is of my Mother and I at Sovereign Hill, in Victoria some years ago now.  I can remember how much fun it was dressing up in those fancy clothes, though I really wanted to wear a dress like my Mother did!  Love those memories!
I adore the appearance of the crackled look, and it melds in beautifully with the vintage era.  Crackling chipboard pieces is a simple process, and when using a heat gun, the process is quite quick too. The base coat can be any colour, though if you apply a light base, be sure to use a darker paint or ink to bring out the cracked detail!

A close up of the cracked surface of the chipboard clock, just to show all the fine detail.  For this particular piece, I used a mixture of Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo distress ink to seep into the cracks and form that old world look.
The title almost has the appearance of beaten metal, which comes with the light pouncing of the Adirondack Gold paint dauber - a fantastic product for chipboard pieces with many achievable variations of texture - you can even stamp onto it while still wet for impression work.
I followed through with the gold paint on the Tulip Corners, beneath the flowers.  All flowers were glimmer misted, so all colours blended in beautifully together. If you are going to use gypsofila be very gentle, it breaks so easily.  I fiddled too much, and lost many of the tiny buds! :-(
The flower arrangement I created myself - not as difficult as it may appear.  Just need a bit of patience, lots of wire, favourite flowers, and florist tape!  When I completed my flower arrangement, I added in a little touch of gesso here and there, across the wired piece to add a little texture and aged the gesso slightly with distress inks.
I have seen similar pieces available on Etsy (thanks for the idea Etsy) for quite a price, so saved myself considerably with making my own.

Again, my 'Christmas' title was painted and then crackle medium applied, and Walnut Stain ink wiped into the cracks.
The Leaves and Christmas trees were each painted, and then highlighted here and there with basic acrylic paints.  The areas of interest were highlighted with a pigma pen, to bring out the finer detail engraved into the chipboard, and a little bling added here and there to decorate.
Thanks for visiting today,  and for taking the time to comment - don't forget to leave a comment on the Imaginarium Designs Blog to be in the running to win a fantastic chipboard prize!

Cheery Lynn Designs - Christmas Lantern, Tag & Friendship Card

Christmas is just around the corner, I’m not totally sure where this year has gone, which is a little scary!!

Cheery Lynn Designs has some stunning Christmas dies, and this week I have created a Christmas Lantern and matching tag.

A tutorial which can be found “here” in the ‘resources’ section of SplitcoastStampers that will give you a guide to making a lantern.

(smallest) to cut the shape from the four sides of my lantern, and backed each cut out, with vellum. The Elegant Evergreen Christmas Tree (DL144) is so detailed and appealing, though a smaller version was required, so I removed the lower edge of the die cut to make the tree the right size to apply to the lantern.   I also adore the new release Snowflake 2, and knew it would look so pretty against the velum when the candle was lit.
It is not recommended to use tea-light candles in a paper-project. However, you can purchase battery operated candles which are perfect with no fire risk.  These battery operated candles are so realistic; they even flicker like a real candle!

The Christmas tag was made with the left over cut-outs from the lantern.  The CoveredRectangle Classic (2nd smallest) was used to back the tag so the Elegant Evergreen ChristmasTree would fit nicely.

These lanterns would look gorgeous on a Christmas table, and could even be adapted to hang with the use of eyelets and some ribbon!

The below ‘friendship’ card, I created for last weeks post, but sadly my internet connection refused to allow me to upload the photographs.  So thought I would sneak it in with this weeks...

I love the way the Lace Light Deco Border interlocks on the front of the card...

Dies used for Friendship Card:

Hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween!!
 till next week, Sandie
