Men At Work - The Scrapbook Store - June Challenge

Another month has arrived, and the June challenge for The Scrapbook Store is now up!
My interpretation is a little different, as I used clocks, and also went masculine - well minus the bows, but you know me, have to add something 'pretty'.

The photograph is of my 'family', in 1900 - at Thistle Park. Now I am not totally sure of what Thistle Park is, but have asked my Uncle to give me some clarification so I can complete the journaling.  My Great, Great Grandparents owned, and ran a large brick works business. There is a series of photographs like this, including the workers of the Brick Works.  Jock and George are my Great Grandparents son's.
The sketch is from Page-Maps this month.  Entry is easy, just upload your layout over on The Scrapbook Store Gallery.  The prize, consists of a $40 voucher to spend in store, with free postage too!
I used Graphic45's Kraft Reflections paper collection, and simply layered to create this layout.  Must say I was extremely tempted to add a flower or 10, but refrained....
I really do detest my hand-writing, but feeling more confident in adding 'some' to be seen.  Most is on the back, or hidden somewhere on the layout.  Imaginarium Designs chipboard was used for the title, and painted using acrylic paints.

I will be back soon, with my creations for June...Take a peek at the latest 'Newsletter', some fabulous new lines of products in store - an end of year sale soon to take place, and lots more information.

The Fairies Shadow Box and a Match Box Mini Album - Imaginarium Designs

Hello Everyone,  I have had a wonderful time creating with Imaginarium Designs chipboard this month, and created a shadow box using the Jane's Shadow Box, and built a fairy-tale image within, using Graphic 45 'Once Upon a Springtime' papers, and the Basecoat collection from Kaisercraft.
Jesse is fascinated by it, and watched the stages of it coming together :-)
I used a variety of chipboard pieces, including the gorgeous Edward Relief Border, cutting the piece down in size to fit perfectly at the top and bottom of the shadow box - this brings back memories of those gorgeous ornate veranda, wrought iron pieces once seen in beautiful old homes.  Love it! The windows were covered using printed acetate to replicate real windows, and then decorated using Embellishment 4, and Embellishment 8
I kept the chipboard plain in colour, so that all the details would show - spray painting each piece before assembling the shadow box.
Hidden on the back wall, peeking out is the Small Butterfly, hiding amongst the foliage and Green Tara flowers.
I had so much fun putting this together...

Edward Relief Border (IDB0010)
Embellishment 4 (IDS0013)
Embellishment 8 IDS0014

...and my next piece, is a miniature matchbox, with mini album.  The matchbox itself measures 7cms X 5.5cms - so it is not the really tiny one's that are available in the supermarket.

The square frame (from 2 Frames on a board) was decorated using a variety of paints, to give it an aged appearance - just simply by stippling the paint on with a hard bristled brush.  The image was one I picked up on Etsy some time ago now (sorry cannot remember name) - Mod Podge was added to the inside of the frame.
The  Embellishment 8, was adhered to the front as a draw front, and a brad (minus stems) added.  It really is only decoration, as you push the back of the box, to open.
The Vine Flourish Tiny, was painted using a gold paint dauber, pouncing the paint to add texture - doing this almost gives a metal appearance.  These intricate flourishes were cut into smaller segments with sharp scissors and added to the floral arrangement on both the matchbox and the mini album.
Of course, I had to add a tiny butterfly - they are so sweet, highlighted with miniature pearls.
Visit the = Imaginarium Designs Blog for further inspiration, and don't forget to leave a comment to be in the running for a fabulous chipboard pack...

Back next month with more Imaginarium Designs creations...

Zeus & Zoe April Challenge - Life as it is now Mini Album - Video

Hi Everyone,
This month I am doing the April challenge on the Zeus and Zoe Blog!  I'd love to see some familiar faces join in with the fun, and there certainly are some fabulous prizes to win....

The main aim of scrapbooking is to turn out photographed memories, into stories that can be passed down through generations.  Often, those creating the stories of the photographs, are also the photographers, and more often than not, are not in many photographs themselves. I know I am one of those people, and even though I scrap about my childhood, I rarely scrap about myself as the person I am today and who I am.

The challenge this month will be to create and journal a project about 'life as it is now', the subject being 'you as an individual'.  There is much interpretation in the depth of how you can create, whether it is a canvas, a mini album, or a scrapbook page.  You can add as much detail as you wish, and about what topics you want to share about yourself - this is totally up to you.  Hidden journaling for personal information is fine - quite often I will write my journaling, add to an envelope and adhere this to the back of my project creation.

There is one additional requirement for the challenge, and that is to incorporate the use of buttons into your creation.  Everyone has a button stash, and in our DT kits from Marivic were some truly amazing, vintage buttons I have been just itching to work with....

I have created a paper bag, mini album. The post was going to be extremely graphic intensive, so I created a video to show all of the album.  This project is a work in progress, and still has a fair way to go for completion.

I really hope that my mini album inspires others to take part in this months challenge....and be in the chance to win some fabulous prizes too!!
Have a creative week..
Sandie

Imaginarium Designs - Tea Tag and Kindy Mini Album

Hi Everyone,  I have two projects to share today with you....
Firstly, a 'Tea Time Tag' - these are large tags which when completed can be made into an album.
I painted the following chipboard pieces with Vintage Photo Distress Stain - 'Love' from Love, Cherish, Adore Small, 'Forever' from Remember, Forever, Together Small , Twigs Two on Board, and a single butterfly from 4 Small Butterflies . I wanted to add more character to the chipboard pieces, and wiped with my finger across the pieces with the Iridescent Gold, Shiva Stick.  It leaves a beautiful shimmer, and even though it is an actual oil paint, it dries normally within 24 hours.  You can see some of the detail of the applied Shiva Stick by clicking on, and enlarging the photographs.  The butterfly I covered totally in Gold, and poked the remaining paint through the tiny holes using a pin.  Was very easy and so effective, and I adore the warm glow of the paint.

Products Used:
Glitz Paper Pack 'French Kiss'
Bazzill Cardstock
Carl Craft Punch (flowers)
Ranger: Distress Ink and Distress Stain Vintage Photo
Shiva Stick, Iridescent Gold
Helmar Adhesives
Other: Pearls, Urn, Lace, Silk Ribbon, Sewing Machine and Thread

Front Cover
My second project.... Ever since Graphic45 brought this beautiful paper range out, I have wanted to create a Kindy book.  Of course, the gorgeous Imaginarium Designs chipboard pieces matched perfectly.
Close Up of 'Lower Case Letters' (IDALC0001)
To create my Kindy Memory Book, I cut the Imaginarium Designs 12 X 12 chipboard into 6" X 6" pieces.  Graphic45, 'An ABC Primer Collection' was used to decorate each of the pages, and various chipboard elements were used throughout the book to highlight and decorate pages.
Close Up of 'Numbers' (IDN0001)
'Oil Slick' Glimmer Glaze was applied to the Imaginarium Designs chipboard - 'Lower Case Letters' (IDAL0001), and 'Numbers' (IDN0001), forming the title.  Then, Glossy Accents was applied, adding a lovely high sheen so the title really was a focus of the main cover.
Page 1 and 2
The pages have various pockets to hold further photographs, journaling, or other memorabilia.
Page 3 and 4
From the 'An ABC Primer Collection' a variety of tags were cut from the page elements and tucked into hidden pockets.
'Small Bicycle' (IDT0018)
Page 5 and 6
'Four Birds on Board' (IDS0029)
The 'Bicycle Small' (IDT0018) and 'Four Birds on Board' (IDS0029) were generously covered with 'Liptsick' Kaisercraft ink, which left a beautiful rusty appearance due to the colour of the chipboard beneath.  The bird's wings and beaks were coloured 'black' using an Artline200 pen, then Glossy Accents applied to highlight the area.
'Small Clock Face' (IDS0036)
The 'Small Clock Face' (IDS0036) was painted using Creative Inspiration Paint in 'Gold', so that it would stand out brilliantly against the papers.  A small brad was added to the centre and I cut out tiny clock hands from a remnant of black cardstock.
