Post Card, A Love Story - My Creative Sketch - August Challenge

The latest sketch for My Creative Sketches has just been released for August, you can find all the details 'HERE'.  I loved this sketch by Liz Chidester, and had fun interpreting the sketch in my own way.  I used the August, Limited Edition Kit, from My Creative Scrapbook.  You can find all kit information and products 'HERE'....

What an amazing kit it was to work with this month, including Kaisercraft's 'One This Day' paper collection, Prima Marketing Flowers, Pink Paislee Artisan Elements, Glitz Cardstock Stickers, Doodlebug Alpha's, Laces, Ribbons and More.

The photograph is one of 'me' as a baby, with my Mum.   The postcard area is hidden journaling, and I journaled about my Mum's thoughts on her first born child... loved Mum's thoughts, words... precious plus.

Hope you'll consider coming and joining in the fun of this months sketch, there is always a beautiful prize put together by Pam... to be won by a random winner!

I Love Thee - Zeus and Zoe - May Challenge

Hi Everyone,  the new Zeus and Zoe challenge for May is inspired by a beautiful mood board that Riikka has created.  You can find all details 'HERE' on the Zeus and Zoe blog.

My inspiration this month comes from the contents of the mood board, and I had a lot of fun in combining my Zeus and Zoe kit contents, with the sponsor items.

Our sponsors this month are Couture Creations, and May Arts.  It was fabulous using such beautiful products - the beautiful lace die above and below on my layout is from Couture Creations.  I also used lace which I dyed with Shadow Mists, and leaves from  May Arts. The leaves I actually painted, and then inked to get that earthy appearance which teamed nicely with the colour hues already used.
There is a fabulous prize this month, consisting of 20 yards of  May Arts ribbons, lace, trims.
and.....a random prize (below) of a gorgeous die, and embossing folder pack from Couture Creations

The photograph I scrapped for this layout is of my Mum, with my Grandfather, and my Aunts Helen, Janet and Diane.  I am unsure who the blonde lady is and must ask my Mum!
I loved the words below and thought it would be nice to incorporate as a tile.
The old doily, key, papers, ornate yellow jewel piece and flowers are from my Zeus and Zoe kit - Marivic puts together the most amazing kits, and even custom makes them for her customers.  You can find the Zeus and Zoe Etsy Shop 'HERE'.
I will be back later in the month with another creation to show....

Celebrate - Layout - The Scrapbook Store

Another layout, created for The Scrapbook Store. The Carta Bella 'So Noted' is such a gorgeous paper collection - the papers are beautiful quality too.

..Celebrate being a woman and playing FOOTBALL in the early 60s.
My Mum is the 3rd from the right, and my Aunt Janet is the 2nd from the left, top row.  This is a group of women who worked for the Brucks Woollen Mill throughout the 1960s, and at one of the events they took on the men playing football.  This event would have been a huge event in its time.  Must look for a newspaper clipping!!
I used the Kaisercraft Wooden Letters as the title, and added the Adorably Cute, from the Note Cards paper, and highlighted using Green Tara's, Burlap Trim, Pleated Organza Ribbon, Lace, and Mini Roses.  Lots of hidden pockets and journaling.
 ... Happy Creating...

Memories of You - My Creative Sketches April Challenge

Hi Everyone,

The April sketch challenge is up on the My Creative Sketch Blog, with a gorgeous prize to be won - prize can be seen below.  Pam (owner of My Creative Scrapbook) puts together some amazing kits - the one I worked with this month is the Limited Edition kit using Prima Marketing 'Divine' paper collection, and elements, which can be found 'HERE'.  It is exquisite.

I adore the sketch Michelle has come up with this month, and scrapped a layout of my Mother with my brother Paul as a baby.  I cherish these memories, and photographs so much.  Those that are close to me know that I lost my brother in a car accident in April, 1990 - I miss him terribly.  In my LO, there is a hidden journal pocket, and to access, you just pull the bow up. I wrote about this particular day where all my cousins and myself, sat on my Grandmother's front lawn and had a picnic. It was a lot of fun!!

The only items I added to my kit, was distress ink, crochet cotton for the buttons, a couple of Green Tara petals, white paint to colour the Prima Alpha's, and the Memories title from the Silhouette Cameo.

Do hope you'll join us for this months sketch challenge...

Family & Friends Together LO and Leaf Tutorial - My Creative Sketch Challenge Sketch

I forgot to mention last month, that I shared 'where I scrap' on the My Creative Scrapbook Blog, so if you are curious .... pop on over 'HERE'.

Now, to another layout I created with the March, Limited Edition Kit, from My Creative Scrapbook.  More beautiful Websters and Kaisercraft papers, teamed with some amazing Prima goodies.  In my own little world of 'heaven'....

You can find all the details of all kits available 'HERE'.

I used the My Creative Sketches, March Sketch to complete my layout.  This month there is a terrific prize (as always) and I do hope to see 'you' join in the fun of creating with the blow sketch.
Oh my goodness, look at this PRIZE to be WON....

The photograph in this layout is of my Mum (on the far left) with her sister (far right) and a family friend (no idea who, must ask Mum).  It's a gorgeous photograph of them, though not in the best condition, I attempted to fix all the flaws and revamp the photograph.  I love the hair-styles, and dresses - they are so pretty!
Had to do a close up of the little Webster 'bird in the nest', as it is soooo cute!

How to Create Leaves

Materials:
Scrap Pieces of Paper
Scissors
Magic Mount
Distress Ink in Green
Pencil
Brown Sharpie Pen
Photograph One
 1. Using pencil, draw leaf shapes in various sizes on scrap paper as shown in photograph 2. It is best to do matching pairs of leaves, so cut the first out using sharp scissors, and use as a template to create a replica of the first leaf, shape and size. Do not stress about leaves not being a perfect shape, as no matter what shape, these leaves always look fantastic once completed on a layout.
Photograph Two
 2. After all leaf elements have been cut out, ink all edges using a green distress ink. There is no need to worry about rubbing out the pencil marks, as the ink will cover any remaining pencil. Ink one side edge of each leaf slightly more so than the other, this adds a shadow. See photograph 3.
Photograph Three
3. Draw 3 random leaf lines as pictured in photograph 3, using a Brown Sharpie Pen.
Photograph Four
 4. Grab tip end of leaf in fingers, and base of leaf in your thumb, and squeeze the tip into a point only. Your thumb holds the lower area of the leaf flat. This adds dimension and shape to each leaf. See photograph 4.
Photograph Five
 5. Apply a magic mount piece to the base edge of the wrong side of each leaf only, and adhere each leaf in and around any flowers on your layout to complete. The reason for using Magic Mount, is add height, and thus, dimension. See photographs 5 and 6.
Photograph Six
 6. Optional: Stickles glitter glue can add a new sparkling element to leaves, by tracing with the glitter glue around all edges, once in position on your layout. Or, trace the drawn Sharpie Pen lines to add a little character to each leaf.
Looking forwards to seeing how this sketch is interpreted!
I'll be back with more for My Creative Scrapbook, soon...

On This Day - My Creative Scrapbook - Limited Edition Kit

....another layout using the March, Limited Edition Kit, from My Creative Scrapbook.  All kits available, can be found 'HERE'.
The photograph is of my Mother on her wedding day, out the front of my Grandmothers house - she certainly was a beautiful bride.  The gorgeous papers in the Limited Edition Kit, seemed to work perfectly for a wedding, and all the other pretty embellishments such as the chipboard circle frame
(I painted white) which I highlighted with Guipure lace.
..once more, lots of fussy cut elements from the various papers, oodles of Prima flowers, and wording from the Websters papers.
The title, using the Websters Alpha Sticker sheet....

I have another layout and a couple of other projects to show how I used left over products from my kit, and will be back to show them in a few days....
Happy Creating

Give, Love, Cherish, Smile - The Scrapbook Store

Hi Everyone,  today I have a layout, using the Kaisercraft Flora Delight Paper Collection, Paper Pad, Collectables, Sticker Sheet, and other gorgeous elements available through The Scrapbook Store.

The photograph is one of my Mum as a young girl, she looks so happy in this photograph. I can see a resemblance to my Mum in my children (each time I see the photo) - it is amazing how family 'looks' continue down through the generations - sometimes so strong, even many generations later.

I was rummaging through some old photographs to scan the other night, and came across a photo taken in mid 1800's, and I swore my eldest son was in the photo!  I am determined to find out 'who' it is in our family. I am fascinated!
I used a combination of Prima Marketing, and Manor House Creations Flowers, teamed with some fussy cut leaves from the Collectables.
Lots of sewing with the machine, added a little extra character, and I grouped some gorgeous charms, along with Vintage Edition Bottle Caps and Covers.  The little clock face, I purchased off Etsy some time ago. The bottle cap was painted using a Gold, Paint Dauber.
There is still plenty of time to join in the fun of the February challenge, details can be found 'HERE', and posted into the Gallery  - would be lovely if you could join us, and be in the running for a fantastic prize!
I'll be back soon, with more...

A Mothers Love Layout - The Scrapbook Store

I'm back with another layout for The Scrapbook Store, using the Carta Bella Traditions paper collection.  The background was created using the Mini Cubist template by Crafters Workshop.  The Scrapbook Store stocks a large range of these gorgeous templates, in both the 12" and 6" square - they can be found 'HERE'.  There is a vast amount of creative ways to implement these template tools into layouts, which include using Gesso, Texture Paste, or even Gelatos

My layouts normally are 'full', so I am attempting and stretching my comfort zone at the moment and trying a minimalist appearance.  It may not seen minimalist to some, but to me, the above layout is pretty bare.  I so wanted to keep adding bits and pieces!!  LOL  I discovered the below sketch #234 on the Creative Scrappers Blog. The sketch seemed a perfect layout to 'attempt' my minimalist attempt, so I entered the challenge!
The photograph is my Mother and myself.  Actually, this was taken on my first birthday.  We were visiting my Aunt Shirley and Uncle Lofty (Fathers side of family) - their house always stank of beer, it was awful.  I had a 1st birthday party, and apparently threw the largest wobbly to man-kind over the cake.  Yes, there is a photograph.

I can see Jesse so much in 'me' in this photograph.  I always thought he was a spitting image of his Dad, but I'm pleased to announce that I am 'there' in looks, even if only a little.  It is amazing how little smiles, and gestures can remind you of a relative of some sort.
Well enough from me for today... for more inspiration, do pop in and visit The Scrapbook Store Gallery, and you still have a little time to enter the challenge too!

My Mums Visit

It was fantastic to have my Mother (Barbara) visit us here in Geraldton for 16 days. However, those 16 days vanished into thin air and we only managed to achieve half of what we set out to!!   Like John and I, Mum found Geraldton to be a wonderful place all around, and couldn’t believe the friendly people here.  Back home (Where John and I also originate from) is an Island (Weeroona Island, also known now as Port Flinders) and there are ‘no’ shops at all.  Adelaide is the decent shopping district and is a 3-4 hour drive from the Island, which Mum only does on the odd occasion.  Mum shopped till she dropped while she was here in Geraldton, and I have numerous parcels ready to post back home to her, otherwise she would have been hit with a massive excess luggage bill. LOL

Even though Jesse has been on a plane before, he was obviously too young to remember and was utterly fascinated with Grandma’s plane landing.  The face said it all, a little concerned, total listening in place, and of course the “WOW” factor.  It truly was priceless...
I just had to get some happy snaps of Mum coming off the plane, and I managed to do just that!!  Mum is the one at the top of the stairs in the above photograph.  Love that "Eco Friendly" green shopping bag in her hand in the below photograph :-)
Strangely enough, Jesse seemed to remember Mum, perhaps due to the fact that Mum sang the same song to him from a baby (when we were living on Island), and continued even though we lived so far away, via the phone.  Normally Jesse reacts (screams like being murdered) when a new face pops into say hello – but he chitter chatted away as if he remembered.  I was totally gob-smacked (now that is real Aussie lingo) ...

And here they are sharing a ‘kiss’... one slobbery, gooey kiss... LOL
Yes, there are photographs of Mum eating her Nutella for breakfast, but I dare not show them in public – think she’d ring my neck.  Jesse loved sharing his breakfast with Grandma...

And sharing some playtime together...

Below - Saying ‘goodbye’ L

Mum managed to just get home (by a cats whisker) due to the strike action by Qantas, and was on the last plane out of Perth on Saturday.  I was hoping she would not be able to fly and get to spend more time with us ... but that was a bit selfish.  I loved the time we all spent together and I miss her very much...
